Turn two cards at a time and find the matches

✦ A win earns 2 bronze keys once a day

How do you play tarot memory?

Tarot cards lie face down, and each one has exactly one twin. Tap a card to turn it over, then tap another. If the pictures match, the pair stays open. If not, both turn back over after a second. Remember where everything is and keep matching until no face-down cards are left.

The clock starts with the first card you turn. Above the table you'll see your moves (a move is two turned cards), the time and your best on this level, and a thin gold bar shows how many pairs you've found. A found pair glows gold, the card's name flashes above the table, and the pair stays face up but dimmed. Several pairs in a row make a streak: Streak ×3.

At the end you see your time, moves, accuracy (pairs found per move) and best streak, with the cards you found laid out in a fan. You can play with a keyboard too: arrow keys pick a card, Enter turns it.

Levels: 12, 20 and 30 cards

There are three levels: 12 cards (6 pairs), 20 cards (10 pairs) and 30 cards (15 pairs). Twelve cards take about a minute and make a good warm-up. Thirty cards mean holding a whole spread in your head: Major Arcana, similar cards from one suit, court cards.

The cards are new every game, drawn at random from all 78. So the memory game teaches you the deck too: a few rounds in, you tell the Empress from the Emperor and the Three of Cups from the Three of Pentacles at a glance.

Personal bests and challenging friends

Your best time on each level is saved. Signed in, it lives in your account on every device. As a guest, it's kept in this browser. Beat it and a Personal best badge appears.

After a win, tap Challenge friends for a short message with your time, like "All pairs found in 1:42. Can you beat it?", plus a link to the game. Send it to a chat and see who's faster.

What you earn

Your first win of the day on any level earns 2 bronze keys. Keys are part of Tayna's Keys game: they collect in your key box and pay for readings. If you aren't signed in, your keys wait for 24 hours. Sign in or create an account and they move over. The reward counts toward the daily activity cap.

The server replays every game move by move and checks the time. Wins faster than a person could turn the cards don't count, which keeps the records honest.

Why play memory if you're into tarot

Memory trains the same skill you use in a reading: recognising a card by its picture without looking at the caption. The faster you recognise the image, the more freely you read the spread as a whole. If a card keeps tripping you up, open its page for the meaning and a detailed look at its symbols.

Questions and answers

Is the tarot memory game free?

Yes. It's free and works without an account. An account just keeps your keys and best times in one place.

What counts as a move?

A move is two turned cards. It counts whether they match or not.

How many keys does the memory game give?

2 bronze keys for your first win of the day on any level. Guests' keys wait 24 hours for them to sign in.

Where is my best time kept?

Signed in, it's in your account and shows on any device. As a guest, it's kept in the browser on this device.

Are the cards always the same?

No. Every game deals new random cards from all 78 in the deck and lays them out in a new order.

Why didn't a very fast win count?

The server checks each game, and wins faster than a person could manage don't count. Play again at a normal pace.
