Tarot reading on a person
Four cards about someone in your life: a friend, a colleague, a relative, or whoever you have in mind.

A tarot reading on a person is for those moments when someone is on your mind and you cannot quite figure them out. A friend has gone quiet, a coworker is acting oddly, conversations with a relative keep stalling, or a new acquaintance leaves you both curious and unsure. Just hold the person in mind — by name or as a picture in your head — and ask your question.
Four cards look at them from different angles: where they are right now, how they see you, what sits outside the frame of your connection, and what to expect next. The spread works for anyone — a man or a woman, a friend, a parent, a boss. If your question is about romance and feelings, head to the Love & relationships section, where the spreads are built for couples.
The cards do not read someone's mind word for word, and they do not give you the right to decide for another person. They help you see the situation more widely than hurt or worry allow, and choose how you want to act.
What each position means
- 1
The person now
Their state of mind and what is filling their days. This card often explains behavior you take personally when it really comes from their own worries.
- 2
How they see you
How they perceive you and feel about your connection: warmth, respect, wariness, hurt. Cups point to attachment, Pentacles to reliability, Swords to tension and disagreement.
- 3
What is hidden
What stays out of view: unspoken expectations, their fears, or something you have not noticed yet. It is not about prying into their secrets — it hints at what is worth asking openly.
- 4
What to expect
Where things between you are heading if nothing changes. A difficult card here is not a verdict but a sign that something is worth doing differently.
Example reading
Question: “Why has my friend of ten years started replying rarely and briefly?”
- The person nowTen of Wands
- How they see youSix of Cups
- What is hiddenFive of Pentaclesreversed
- What to expectThree of Cups
The Ten of Wands as the person now says your friend is overloaded: too many responsibilities, and the cool messages are more about exhaustion than distance. The Six of Cups in how she sees you shows warm attachment and shared memories — you are still close to her. The Five of Pentacles reversed in what is hidden hints at difficulties she feels awkward talking about, and suggests the worst is already behind her. The Three of Cups in what to expect is laughter and time together. The cards suggest not waiting for her to make the first move, but inviting her to meet up — no reason needed, no reproach.
How to ask about a person
Questions about your connection and about what you can do work best. Asking “what are they hiding from me” turns the reading into suspicion; asking “what do I need to understand about them” turns it into a conversation.
- How does this person really feel about me?
- Why has our connection changed?
- What should I understand about them before I trust them?
- How can I get along better with my mom?
- What can I expect from working with this new project partner?
The People in my life section
The reading on a person leads the section about the people around you. When your question is narrower, pick a more focused spread:
- What is this person like — their character and true nature, how they seem and who they really are.
- Friendship — what holds you together and where the friendship is going.
- Parents and Your child — about family and what goes unsaid.
- Conflict with someone close — the cause of the fight and the way to peace.
- Colleagues and boss — for work relationships, in the Career & study section.

Frequently asked questions
Can I do a reading on someone without saying their name?
Yes. Holding them in mind or describing them in a few words — “a coworker from the next team”, “an old friend” — is enough. A name helps you focus, but it is not required.
Does this spread work for a partner or crush?
It does, but for romantic questions the Love & relationships section is a better fit: it has readings about him, about her, and about a partner's thoughts and feelings. The reading on a person is broader and covers any kind of bond.
Will the person sense that I did a reading on them?
No. A reading has no effect on the other person and sends them nothing. It is a way to make sense of your own feelings and the situation between you.
Can I do a reading on someone I barely know?
You can. The cards will show a first impression, their attitude toward you, and what to pay attention to as you get to know them. The less you know someone, the more lightly you should hold the conclusions.
What if the cards show the person has a poor opinion of me?
Look at the hidden position and the outlook: they often show where the tension comes from and whether it can ease. Sometimes the best answer to such a card is an honest talk; sometimes it is distance that protects you.
Can I read on several people in one spread?
Better one at a time. Each person deserves their own reading and question, otherwise the cards blend the stories together. Save each one to your Book of Secrets to compare later.
