Which tarot cards represent a man?

This quiz checks how well you recognise a male figure in a reading. Most often a man is described by The Emperor and the four Kings, a younger or more restless one by the Knights, while The Magician and The Hierophant add traits and roles. You will pick the card that best fits a portrait, work through relationship readings and test a couple of popular beliefs.

A portrait has two layers. The first is rank: a King is usually a mature, established person, a Knight is someone on the move or still finding himself, a Page is very young or simply a message. The second is the suit, which hints at temperament: Wands are fire and drive, Cups are feeling, Swords are mind and directness, Pentacles are reliability and practical sense.

How not to misread the portrait

A court card speaks first of a role and an energy, not of gender. That is why the neighbours matter: beside relationship cards The Hierophant stresses serious intentions, and The Magician next to a King or Knight adds initiative and charm. If the 'who is he' position shows a card that rarely describes a man, such as The High Priestess or the Page of Cups, ask whether the reading points to a hidden side of the person, a piece of news or feelings that are only beginning.

Remember each card's shadow too. The Emperor's reliability can slide into control, the King of Swords' honesty into coldness, the King of Wands' passion into impatience. A good reading describes a real person, not an ideal.
