How do you work out a wedding date's arcanum?
This quiz checks how to turn a wedding date into a Major Arcana card and how to read the result calmly. Tayna has no separate wedding date calculator, but you can treat a date with the same sum used for the personality card. Add the day, month and year as whole numbers, then reduce the digits of the total until it is 22 or less.
For example, 08.08.2028 gives 2044, and 2 + 0 + 4 + 4 = 10, Wheel of Fortune. Dates that look striking often surprise people: 22.02.2022 gives neither The Fool nor The High Priestess but The Hanged Man, because it is the sum that counts, not the individual digits.
Why isn't every card possible?
Dates in the 2020s add up to roughly 2022 to 2072. The digits of those totals give arcana from 5 to 17, so The World, Judgement or The Fool cannot appear this decade by this method. If you want to tie a wedding to a particular card, it is easier to choose it as a symbol than to bend the date.
Do not confuse the day's card with the couple's card. The compatibility arcanum comes from two birth dates and describes the union. A wedding date's card only speaks of the mood of the day itself, and it carries no extra weight.
Reading the result without superstition
A date with a pleasant card does not guarantee a strong marriage, and a difficult card does not promise trouble. If you get The Tower, read it as a task: what the couple might let go of so they can start their life together honestly. The Hermit is a reminder of quiet and meaning, Wheel of Fortune of flexibility.
The Will I get married spread does not set a date either. Its three cards look at readiness, at what will strengthen the union and at the next stage. Marriage is a decision made by two people, and the cards only help you think it through. Each run takes three random questions from eight.
