What does the wand mean in tarot?
The wand is a symbol of fire: will, desire, drive, the nerve to act. This quiz checks whether you understand the language of the symbol itself — which element the suit belongs to, why the wands in the Tayna deck are alive and covered in leaves, and how the number and placement of wands on a card reveal its meaning. Each round draws five questions from twelve.
Most questions show four cards from the suit and ask on which one the wands behave in a particular way: flying, crossing, standing like a fence or weighing on someone's shoulders.
How the wands tell the suit's story
On the Ace there is a single wand held by a hand from a cloud: a spark, a gift waiting to be taken. On the Two one wand is in hand and another stands apart — what you have and where you could go. On the Three a figure leans on one wand while two more are set firmly in the rock: a foundation already exists.
Then the wands start interacting. They cross in a quarrel on the Five, rise from below toward a lone defender on the Seven, fly in formation on the Eight and stand like a palisade behind a weary hero on the Nine. On the Ten there are so many that fire turns into a burden.
One detail of the Tayna deck matters a lot: the leaves on the staffs. They remind you that the fire of the Wands does not only burn, it also grows things; it is a living force, not a bare stick. Tarot works like an alphabet of images here: once the symbol is clear, the card's meaning is easier to recall in any spread.
