Which tarot cards are linked to Jupiter and Saturn?

This quiz tests how the two slowest of the seven classical planets sound in tarot under the Golden Dawn system. Jupiter gets the Wheel of Fortune: turns, cycles and the lucky moment. Saturn gets the World: completion, wholeness and a road walked to its end. Together they describe time itself. Jupiter shows how life turns, and Saturn shows how it gathers into a result.

Each planet rules two signs. Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Pisces, whose trumps are Temperance and the Moon. Saturn rules Capricorn and Aquarius, whose cards are the Devil and the Star. That last pair is striking: one Saturn sign speaks of attachments and whatever holds you, the other of hope and freedom. Saturn, it turns out, describes both the frame and the way out of it.

Why is Saturn not a card of doom in tarot?

Old astrology called Saturn the harsh planet, and the label still scares people. In tarot, though, its trump is the World, one of the brightest cards in the deck. Saturn stands for time, structure and maturity. It circles the zodiac in about twenty-nine and a half years; Jupiter takes about twelve, which is why it spends roughly a year in each sign.

In the Minor Arcana Jupiter stands behind the Eight of Swords, Six of Wands, Four of Swords, Two of Pentacles and Nine of Cups. Saturn sits behind the Seven of Pentacles, Five of Wands, Three of Swords, Ten of Wands and Eight of Cups. Saturn's cards often deal with patience and timing: the harvest of the Seven of Pentacles ripens slowly, and the load of the Ten of Wands has to be carried all the way to the gate.

How the quiz works

Each round draws five of twelve questions: pick one card out of four, tell truth from myth, and read pairs of cards in short scenarios. Tayna keys go to a flawless round, with unlimited replays.

These links promise neither luck from Jupiter nor hardship from Saturn. They hint at the character of the time you ask in. The Wheel reminds you that everything moves, and the World that every cycle has a point where it deserves a celebration.
