How do you recognize a Swords card from its scene?
In this quiz you read a short description of a scene, who is shown, where and doing what, and choose which card of the Swords suit it belongs to. You pick from four cards with pictures and names. Every description comes from the artwork of the Tayna deck, so the quiz also helps you remember its imagery. Twelve questions in the pool, five per run.
After each answer you get an explanation of what the scene means and why it fits that card. Questions and card order are reshuffled, so you can play again and again. Keys go to your first flawless run.
Why learn the scenes and not just the meanings?
Keywords fade quickly, but an image stays with you. If you remember that on one card a person crosses the water toward a bright shore while on another someone sits on a bed at night with their face in their hands, the meaning comes back on its own: transition in the first case, worry in the second. The scene is a cue you don't have to memorize.
The Swords suit reads especially well through its pictures. Its cards are full of telling details: blindfolds, blades in different positions, stormy or starry skies, people walking away, sneaking off, resting or charging ahead. Each detail describes a state of mind, whether clear, confused, tired or determined.
Scenes also take the fear out of the harder cards. Once you notice the sun rising over the figure on the rocks, or that the knight in the chapel is resting rather than defeated, the heavy first impression turns into understanding. Swords describe thoughts, and thoughts can change.
How to play
Read the whole description and look for the main action: what the figure is doing and what surrounds it. Similar details appear on several cards, so it is the combination that decides.
If you keep confusing two cards, open both pages on Tayna and compare the artwork descriptions. Tarot is a tool for reflection, and the better you know the scenes, the more freely you can read a spread without a cheat sheet.
