What the card shows

On our card a young woman floats in a dance at the center of a great oval laurel wreath, bound at top and bottom with golden ribbons. She wears a laurel crown, green leaves and a long white scarf that spirals around her body, and holds a pale wand with a golden tip in each hand. Behind her the blue globe of the Earth glows in a starry sky, and from the clouds in the four corners look out four figures: a human face, an eagle, a bull and a lion.

The wreath is a completed cycle and a well-earned victory, and the dance within it shows that wholeness lives in movement rather than in a frozen pose. The two wands speak of opposites held in balance within one person. The Earth behind her and the four figures in the corners are all the elements and sides of life, finally gathered together.

Upright meaning

The World upright means completion, wholeness and the success that your whole journey has been leading to. It is the twenty-first and final card of the Major Arcana: the Fool's journey, which began at the edge of a cliff, closes here in a dance inside the wreath.

The card speaks of harmony and a sense of being exactly where you belong. Achievements, travel, recognition and stepping out into the wider world are all its territory. The World reminds you that completion is not an end but the point from which a new and even larger circle begins.

Reversed meaning

The World reversed speaks of something unfinished: the goal is very close, but the last step is hard to take. You may feel something is missing for the picture to be whole, or that matters drag on with no ending in sight.

The card asks you to look at what loose ends from the past keep the circle from closing. Sometimes you simply need to admit that you have done enough. Completion arrives once you release the perfect picture and let yourself finish.

The World in love and relationships

Upright

In love, The World is harmony, mutual feeling and the sense that you belong together. In a couple, the relationship reaches maturity and fullness; a big shared step or a journey together may be ahead. If you are single, the card speaks of inner wholeness: you are at ease with yourself, and that is exactly what draws the right person in. A new connection may even begin far from home.

Reversed

The World reversed in a relationship is a bond that has paused one step short of its next stage. Things seem fine, yet a decision, some clarity or closure on the past is missing before you can move on. Sometimes an unfinished earlier relationship is in the way. The card suggests asking what exactly is missing for the picture to feel complete, and saying it out loud.

The World as feelings

When The World describes someone's feelings for you, they feel whole and at peace with you. To them, you simply fit, and things fall into place when you are together. It is a mature, settled feeling, full of gratitude and a wish to stay together for the long run.

The World in work and career

At work, The World promises a project brought to a successful close and the recognition that comes with it. A goal that took a long time to reach is finally achieved. International contacts, travel or a step up to a new level are possible. Take pride in the result and pick out your next summit.

The World in money

With money, The World points to stability and an important goal reached. Your efforts deliver a full result. Take stock, enjoy what you have achieved and plan ahead from solid ground.

The World as the card of the day

As a card of the day, The World is a day to finish something and celebrate it. Close the task that has been hanging around longest and mark it, even with a small ritual. Good for travel and meeting new people.

The card's advice

Celebrate the road you have walked and thank yourself for it. Close this circle calmly — the next one is already waiting.
