Will we meet? A tarot reading for a date or meeting
Three cards on the meeting you are waiting for: whether it happens, how it goes, and what it starts.
The cards are shuffling…

- Will it happen
- How it will go
- What comes after
This reading is for the waiting hours. A date is set, but he has gone quiet. You agreed to meet after a long break and wonder if it will fall through at the last minute. Or the texting has gone on for weeks and still has not turned into a real meeting. The Will We Meet spread answers that question in three cards.
The cards follow the order of events: will the meeting happen, how will it go, and what comes after. People most often use it before a first date or a meeting with someone close to their heart, but it works for any meeting — a friend, family, or someone you used to be close to.
The cards do not set a date or control someone else's calendar. They show which way things are leaning and help you walk in calmer, with fewer expectations weighing on you.
What each position means
- 1
Will it happen
The main answer: is the meeting moving toward you, or stuck for now? Wands and fast cards like the Chariot say yes, and soon; reversed cards and Fours point to a delay or a pause.
- 2
How it will go
The mood of the meeting: easy, nervous, deep, awkward. Cups promise warmth; Swords promise straight talk that clears a lot up.
- 3
What comes after
What this meeting sets in motion: more time together, a pause, a new understanding. Read it as the first step after the meeting, not the ending of the whole story.
Example reading
Question: “Will the Saturday date we arranged over text actually happen?”
- Will it happenEight of Wands
- How it will goThree of Cups
- What comes afterSeven of Cups
The Eight of Wands as will it happen is a fast, confident card: things are moving, there may be messages the night before and some back-and-forth about details, but the date is coming your way. The Three of Cups as how it will go promises ease and laughter — conversation flows on its own, and there may be other people around. The Seven of Cups as what comes after is a time when imagination fills in a lot of options. After the date it will be tempting to start planning a future together, so watch what he does rather than what you picture. The meeting itself looks good; what grows from it will take a little longer to show.
How to ask about a meeting
Name the specific meeting and the person, so the cards answer about that meeting rather than love in general.
- Will our date on Friday go ahead?
- Will I see him before the end of the month?
- How will our first meeting after all the texting go?
- What will change between us after we meet?
- What is missing for this meeting to happen?
If the cards say the meeting won't happen
A hard card in the first position does not always mean never. More often it points to a postponement, one of you not being ready yet, or circumstances getting in the way. Reversed cards here usually mean a delay rather than a no.
Look at the third card: it shows what will unfold once the meeting does become possible. If you want to see what would speed it up and what is holding it back, try the When Will It Happen spread.
Frequently asked questions
Can I ask about meeting someone I met online?
Yes — it is one of the most common questions for this spread. The cards show whether the chat is moving toward meeting in person and what that meeting would be like. Whether to go is still your call, and staying safe is something you take care of, not the cards.
Will the reading tell me the exact date we'll meet?
No. It tells you whether the meeting happens and what it will be like. The cards hint at timing only roughly, through the pace of the suit: Wands are fast, Pentacles are slow. For timing questions there is the When Will It Happen spread.
Is there any point in a reading if the date is already set?
There is. The first card shows how solid the plans are, and the second and third show what mood to bring and what to expect. It is a good way to ease nerves before a date.
The second card is a tough one. Should I cancel?
Not necessarily. A tough card can point to a difficult but needed conversation, or simply to your own nerves. Use it as a hint about what to be honest about and where not to rush things.
Does this spread work for meetings that aren't dates?
Yes. A friend, family, someone you have not seen in years — the positions read the same way. Just say in your question which meeting you mean.
How can I check later whether the reading came true?
Save it to your Book of Secrets, and after the meeting mark it as came true if things went the way the cards showed. Over time you will see which cards tend to land for you.
