Tarot reading about money
Three cards on your money: where things stand, what keeps it from flowing, and what you can lean on.
The cards are shuffling…

- Your finances now
- What slows you down
- Where your resource is
A money tarot reading helps when your finances feel off and you cannot quite say why. There is a salary, yet the account is empty by the end of the month. You want to ask for a raise, but something stops you. A side-project idea has been circling for months. This spread looks at what sits behind those feelings.
Three cards look at your finances from three angles: where your money stands now, what slows it down, and where your resource lies — a skill, a habit or a source of support you may be underrating. Tayna reads each card together with your question, so the answer is about your situation rather than money in general.
The cards are a tool for reflection, not financial advice. They will not tell you where to put your savings or name a figure. What they can show is the mood, the fears and the habits around money — the part that numbers miss. This page is also home to the whole Money section: below you will find spreads for the month ahead, a big purchase and your money mindset.
What each position means
- 1
Your finances now
How things really are — not only in your account but in how money feels to you. Pentacles speak to the practical side, Cups to money tangled with emotion, Swords to worry and thoughts going round in circles.
- 2
What slows you down
What keeps money from coming in or staying: fear, habit, other people's expectations or simple overload. A reversed card here often points to an inner brake rather than an outside obstacle.
- 3
Where your resource is
What you can lean on right now: a skill, contacts, time, temperament. Court cards often point to a person — or to a role you could step into yourself.
Example reading
Question: “Why does my money go out faster than it comes in?”
- Your finances nowTwo of Pentacles
- What slows you downSeven of Cups
- Where your resource isQueen of Pentaclesreversed
The Two of Pentacles as your finances now is juggling: there is money, but you keep moving it from one gap to the next. The Seven of Cups as the brake names the cause gently — lots of small wants and promises of later that quietly eat the budget. The Queen of Pentacles reversed as your resource says the ability to look after money is there, but right now it is spent on other people and other tasks. The cards suggest taking back the role of the one in charge of your finances: look at where a month of spending actually went and decide which of those costs are truly yours.
What to ask in a money tarot spread
Questions about you and your actions work far better than questions about amounts or dates. The cards answer why and what well; how much, not so well.
- What keeps me from earning what I want to earn?
- Why do I keep putting off asking for a raise?
- Where could extra income realistically come from?
- What would change if I started tracking my spending?
- How can I stop worrying about money all the time?
Reading the suits in a finance reading
Pentacles are the money suit: earnings, possessions, the body, time. Plenty of them means the question really is practical, and so will be the answer. Wands bring energy and initiative — here money follows work that excites you. Cups tie money to feelings: how you value yourself and who you tend to give to. Swords usually speak of the mind — worry, doubt and old decisions that are due for a rethink.
Major Arcana in a money reading mean the question is bigger than the budget. The Wheel of Fortune points to changes that are hard to steer, The Empress to abundance through care, The Devil to attachment — whether to debt, a job or the habit of spending.

Frequently asked questions
Can a money tarot reading tell me when money will come?
It does not give dates. It shows what speeds money up or slows it down right now. If timing is what you need, try the When Will It Happen spread — though that, too, gives a bearing rather than a promise.
Can I ask about a specific amount?
You can, but the cards answer with what surrounds the number: how realistic the goal is, what stands in the way and what helps. Asking what do I need to earn this much usually gives a more useful answer.
What does the Five of Pentacles mean in a money reading?
It is the card of scarcity and of feeling left out in the cold. Yet it almost always shows a way out too: help is close by, it is just overlooked or too awkward to ask for. As the brake it often names a fear of ending up with nothing.
Does this spread work for a small business?
It works for an overall look at a project's finances. To examine the idea, resources and risk separately, the Career section has a five-card Your Own Business spread.
Is a tarot money reading a substitute for financial advice?
No. The cards help you understand your feelings and habits; they are not financial advice. Make decisions about loans, savings and investments based on the numbers and, where needed, with a qualified adviser.
How often should I do a finance tarot reading?
Every few weeks, or when something changes: a new job, a large expense, a new goal. Asking about the same thing daily means the cards start answering your anxiety instead of your question. For a shorter horizon there is Money This Month.
