Money tarot for the month ahead
Four cards, four weeks: how your money is likely to move over the next month and where it will need your attention.
The cards are shuffling…

Tap to skip straight to choosing
A financial month is rarely even. One week goes on big bills, another brings an unexpected gig, a third is all about stretching what is left. This monthly money tarot spread lays out that rhythm in advance, so you can see where you can breathe and where it pays to keep a cushion.
Each of the four cards covers one week, starting with the week you draw them. The card shows the mood of that week in money matters: an inflow, pressure, a pause or an opening. Tayna reads them in order, as one story, and ties them to your question — about pay, freelance work, spending or a debt.
Treat it as a planning aid, not financial advice and not a promise of any amount. The cards know nothing about exchange rates or the fine print of a contract. What they can do is help you notice when you are likely to make impulsive choices, when a purchase can wait, and where an opportunity might appear that is easy to miss.
What each position means
- 1
Week 1
The next seven days. This card tends to be the most concrete: it often describes something already under way — a payment, a money conversation, a new task.
- 2
Week 2
Where the theme develops. Pentacles here point to work and income, Cups to spending on joy and on people you love, Swords to something that needs recounting or rethinking.
- 3
Week 3
The turn of the month. A Major Arcana card here can bring a change that matters more than the money itself — a new offer or a decision.
- 4
Week 4
How the month closes financially. A reversed card does not mean there will be no money; more likely it says keep something in reserve and avoid new commitments near the end.
Example reading
Question: “How will my first month of money go after starting a new job?”
- Week 1Ace of Pentacles
- Week 2Four of Pentaclesreversed
- Week 3Eight of Pentacles
- Week 4Six of Pentacles
The Ace of Pentacles in week one is a good start: a new foundation, a first payment or clarity about your terms. The Four of Pentacles reversed in week two warns that after a long stretch of saving you may want to loosen the reins and spend more than planned. The Eight of Pentacles in week three brings you back to the work itself: this month money grows through effort and attention to detail, not luck. The Six of Pentacles at the end speaks of balance — enough to cover your own needs and perhaps help someone close. The advice of the month: treat yourself, but with an amount you pick in advance.
How it differs from the general monthly tarot
Monthly Tarot looks at every area of life at once and opens with a card for the theme of the month. Money This Month stays with your finances and gives all four cards to the weeks, so each week gets its own attention.
If you want to understand your overall money situation rather than its rhythm, start with the main spread of this section, the Money Tarot Reading. And if the whole month revolves around one large expense, the Big Purchase or Deal spread is a better fit.
Using the spread to plan your month
Note each week's card in your calendar next to the dates your bills are due. It becomes easier to see whether a heavy card lines up with a week of big outgoings, and to prepare: move an optional purchase, set money aside a little earlier.
At the end of the month, compare how the cards played out. After two or three months you will start to notice which cards tend to show up around spending for you, and which around new chances. A few questions to start with:
- What will help me save something this month?
- Which week will be the tightest for spending?
- How will this month go with my side hustle?
- Where could new income show up this month?
Frequently asked questions
Which week does the monthly money spread start from?
The week you draw the cards. There is no need to wait for the 1st: the month counts from the day of the reading. If it feels more natural, do it on payday.
What should I do if one week comes out heavy?
Treat it like a weather forecast: take an umbrella, do not cancel your life. A heavy card suggests where to keep a reserve, skip new commitments and avoid deciding on impulse.
Will the spread tell me the best week for a big expense?
It shows when you are likely to be calm and focused and when you may rush. That is a useful hint, but check the purchase itself against the numbers. For a considered decision there is a separate big purchase spread.
Does it work if my income is irregular?
Especially then. For freelancers and anyone paid by the project, it helps to see in advance which weeks look like a flow and which like a lull, and to plan your energy around that.
Can I ask about the month for a shared household budget?
Yes, if the question is about a budget you actually run together. Phrase it directly — how will this month go for our household budget. Spending decisions still stay shared.
Does the reading tell me how to manage my money?
No. It is not financial advice or a budget plan. The cards show the mood and rhythm of the month; how you split your money is your call, based on your numbers and, if needed, a professional.
